ACW Back With A Vengeance Results & Review - The Home Of The Future & Front Row Turmoil!

Sometimes you go to a show and you just have a feeling, that the company and people involved will hit it big, and this is that thought exemplified, Saturday, 4th of February 2018, I saw my second ever ACW show and it was awesome! Dare I say it rivalled Chapter 62 which I had attended the previous weekend, with a stacked 8 match card which included: Two women's quarter finals matches to crown the first ever Women's Champion, two amazing tag team matches and 4 great singles matches including a brutal No Disqualification main event for the companies Heavyweight Championship. All that made for a very entertaining afternoons worth of wrestling.

Before I go into the review, please show the lovely people over at ACW some love by following their Twitter & Facebook Page and tell them the Owl sent you! Now lets get into the review!

ACW Women's Championship Tournament Quarter Final Match:

Livvii Grace Def. Jayde

Jayde didn't like Boggles, just thought I'd put that out there in case you see the footage of her randomly laughing at an audience member, that was me. As for the match, really fun opener, you just look at both ladies in this match and they have "Star" written all over, Livvii's incredible energy and big moves with Jayde's character work and wonderful kicks, Jayde seems to be with team M.A.D and she'll make a wonderful addition. I do wish the match was longer, I feel like these 2 would've done so much more, but with 8 matches, some have to be given less time and it's a shame it happened here, I still thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to see these two again, saying it now, Livvii is winning the title!

The Hitset Def. The Bromantics

Combine The New Day's goofy humour with The Uso's heel antics and devastating hard hitting style, and you have The Hitset, these two are awesome! I've seen Alexander Roth in a few singles matches and holy hell he is great, Kieran Kurrupt compliments him very well and the two have a wonderful chemistry that will see them dominate the UK tag scene, mark my words. The Bromantics are also fantastic, with a great little guy big guy combination with differing move sets to give their team a more unique arsenal, these two teams produced a beautiful tag team match with The Hitset maintaining the upper hand for the majority of the match, even spoofing the age old wrestler hits his tag partner routine, with Roth striking Kurrupt, Kurrupt retaliates and asks if they're even, and they hug it out saying "We're on the same team we shouldn't be fighting each other." Before they both get taken over the top rope, lovely stuff. Once ACW have tag team titles, I hope its these two teams that face off for the gold, it would certainly be a fitting way to welcome ACW's tag team division to main UK audiences, everyone in attendance LOVED The Hitset and gave The Bromantics a round of applause post match, these two teams deserve that honour.

Hustle Malone Def. TK Cooper

With Chase Williams, Jayde and Hustle Malone all coming out, I almost thought Dahlia and Travis would come out to even odds, instead Hustle was threatened with losing his #1 Contendership Briefcase if Jayde and Chases didn't leave ringside, evening the odds for TK. The match was very good, TK Cooper of course performing well and Hustle Malone is a nasty piece of work as a heel, very vicious, wasn't a fan of him calling TK a cripple in his opening promo and hopefully that was just a one off slip, but outside of that his promo work is excellent also. The two hit hard and hit often, a real drag down brawl with a humorous spot where Hustle headbutts TK to no effect, and seemingly forgetting something about TK, but don't worry TK reminded him and the audience, that he is indeed, Samoan, and then returns the headbutt. Both men try to use the briefcase on each other, and with the referee distracted, trying to get rid of it, Hustle Malone low blows TK and finishes him off for the win, strong victory for Malone over a huge star like TK and a very enjoyable match.

 David Francisco Def. Connor Mills

Anyone who knows me in wrestling knows I love David Francisco, and his matches with Mills honestly feels like these two will become the next big UK rivalry much like Will Ospreay Vs. Marty Scurll, they've had brilliant matches not only in ACW, but also NFW (New Force Wrestling) and will undoubtedly continue this trend during 2018 and beyond. With Mills winning the last encounter at Apollo 4, David took to his social medias saying despite the loss, overall he still has the upper on him, and if you haven't already, follow this man on any of his various social medias, I'll link his website here and trust me, you won't be disappointed. As for the match, it was great, Conner's quick high flying ability was matched by David's more methodical take down move set, the classic ground the flyer strategy. David's facial expressions to being called average was hilarious and overall these two had a great match, I slightly prefer their previous encounter, but that's personal preference.

The match ends when James Best, who had previously turned on Mills at Apollo 4, comes out to distract him, leading to a low blow and curb stomp combination for David to even their ACW score at 1-1. With this and the next match, it seems James and David have formed a tag team, which suits as one calls himself the best and the other calls himself fantastic, I'd love this to be a long standing thing and not just a one off, even if it's exclusive to ACW. This was a brilliant way to end the first half of the show continuing two story lines involving the same baby face with two different heels.

James Best Def. Alex Cupid

It seems Alex didn't like Boggles either, I held him out and he just kinda ignored me, the only one in my whole row, hope he doesn't hate me, love you Alex! My MOTN, what looked to be a one sided beat down from Alex to James, turned into a hard hitting brawl, don't underestimate James, he his a vicious pit bull of a wrestler, and a lot more than meets the eye. Some may know Alex Cupid from the tag team Never Say Die, who are awesome! But James like I said, is one to look out for, both men just beat the hell out of each other and then David Francisco came out, assisting James in a similar fashion to how James helped David. With a post match beat down ensuing, Mills springs out and helps Alex, with the threat of not being booked on ACW ever again, James and David are forced to face Cupid and Mills at the next show, I can't wait for this match! This match was great, and I'm glad it will prolong seeing David and Connor in singles action as I want their rubber match in ACW to be for the title, I also like that Cupid is solidly behind Mills, perhaps we'll get a 6 man later down the line with NSD and Mills, Vs. David, James and a 3rd heel. Awesome story progression and an awesome match.

ACW Women's Championship Tournament Quarter Final Match:

Chakara Def. CJ Rhys

Chakara's entrance alone was a highlight, coming out with The Hitset, having them treat her like an Egyptian Queen of sorts, fanning her down, to the point where she gets visibly annoyed was hilarious to watch. This was CJ's in ring debut and she didn't look out of place against Chakara, bright future, another case of ACW just being the home for wrestlers who have star embedded into them, some ambitious moves from CJ for her debut, including a suicide dive! With it being her debut sadly the match was on the short side much like the first women;s match, again a shame but honestly, CJ Rhys, book her again, and any other promotions who happen to read this, she is solid and will only get better. I think Chakara will make it to the final, have the numbers advantage with The Hitset backing her up before Livvii takes her down.

Big T & Omari Def. Chris Brookes & Candyfloss

It seems I'm just not allowed to watch Millie McKenzie wrestle at this point, another injury sidelined her for this show, but to replace her was the very colourful Candyfloss, then on the other side, Ojmo was also injured, being replaced by Omari. This match was fun as hell, Brookes was hilarious, Big T, well, he was big, and could've killed Candyfloss with one chop, Omari and Candyfloss made for good editions to the match, I love Candyfloss, she's fun to watch with a creative character of being fuelled by sugar. Between the humorous spots we got some damn good tag team wrestling, many great sequences and spills to the outside, it wasn't just all fun and games, and something quite hilarious happened by ringside. I met a cool dude by the name of Oliver Rayson, who's Twitter you can follow here, and he was sitting next to me, Candyfloss pulls Big T's leg off the apron to make him fall to the outside, inadvertently super kicking Oliver in his nipple, nearly breaking his Iphone that was in his shirt pocket. Just a fun moment I wanted to share, well, it was fun for me #RIPOlversNippleAndIphone. The match ends with Big T and Omari coming out victorious, but The Hitset come out with a distraction from Chakara and wreck havoc on Ojmo's bad arm, before long Big T is able to scare them off, seemingly signalling a tag match between the two teams in the near future. Overall, a great tag team match with many fun moments.

Main Event - ACW Heavyweight Championship No Disqualification Match

Damon Moder (c) Def. Jimmy Havoc

A very fitting main event to a pretty crazy show, Moser requesting the No DQ stipulation, meaning I got to see a Jimmy Havoc No DQ match, in the front row! Now while not the bloodbath you'd expect, it was still pretty damn brutal, with chairs, pans, thumbtacks, a table and worst of all, a bag of sweets! But seriously the worst part was the paper cuts into lemon juice and salt, I cringe every time I see that spot in any deathmatch. Moser has been given a good variety of opponents since capturing the belt, winning against different styles to make him a very credible and versatile champion, now who he loses it to is the big question. I wasn't a fan of the finish, felt a bit weak with just a roll up into the table for the 3 count, I feel we could've had a bigger finish, but it was still a very enjoyable main event, and with no post match theatrics, it begs the question of who will Moser face next?

Final Thoughts:

Overall this was a damn good show, like I said at the beginning, this show rivalled Chapter 62, it was fun in all the right places but also had a lot of enjoyable wrestling. ACW is a company you should check out without question, they are destined for great things, not just the company, but the wrestlers involved, mark my words, people like The Hitset, Livvii Grave, Jayde, The Bromantics, James Best, all destined to be stars, and ACW is a wonderful platform for them and many others. Also, final shoutout to Slick Lombardo for his awesome ring announcer role, dude is fucking killer on the mic in just that role, so I'd imagine he can cut one hell of a promo and I hope to see him live in the near future, give him some love, and of course, tell him the Owl sent you!

There 1 Year Anniversary show is on the 31st of March, tickets are available here so if you're in the London area, come to the show, as always, tell them the Owl sent you! I will always support ACW, because they bloody deserve it.

Final Rating - 8/10
